Andorra, Coronallacs Trail Hut-To-Hut Hiking Adventure

Andorra is a tiny country in the Pyrenees Mountains. There is no airport in Andorra, and it takes a little extra planning to find the right train and bus schedules; however, hiking in Andorra is worth the extra effort. That’s part of the adventure!

Andorra Hiking

Andorra hiking trails climb high into the mountains for spectacular views of alpine lakes and 9,000-foot peaks. The well-marked routes lead to cozy mountain huts (refuges or refugi) with beds and meals waiting for tired hikers. These hut-to-hut style Pyrenees hikes make Andorra a European summer hiking destination. The combination of huts and quiet trails make it the perfect place to escape into nature without carrying around a full set of camping gear.

Andorra is only three hours from Barcelona, Spain, and less than 5 hours from Toulouse, France.

Coronallacs Trail

Andorra is one of the only places in the world where you can nearly circumnavigate an entire country on a hut-to-hut hiking trail. The Coronallacs Trail is a loop hike that starts and ends in Andorra La Vella. Once you arrive in Andorra, you don’t need a car to get to the trails.

The Coronallacs Trail is not easy. It has a Level 4 backpacking and hiking trail rating due to the distance and elevation gain between huts. The standard route travels counterclockwise from Andorra La Vella. The Coronallacs Trail website and Visit Andorra have information about the standard route that visits all four staffed huts in 5 days.

If you are short on time or want to explore different route ideas, we created an in-depth resource to help you construct an adventure that fits your needs.
